President Donald Trump has nominated a prominent Florida Republican to serve as Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere in the U.S. State Department.

Trump nominated former state Rep. Carlos Trujillo for the position and to serve on the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation. Currently, Trujillo is the U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS).

“Few individuals understand the ongoing complexities and threats our region is currently facing like Ambassador Trujillo,” Rubio said on Tuesday. “Ambassador Trujillo dutifully represents America’s interests at the OAS and advocates for human rights, democracy, and regional stability. I have worked closely with Ambassador Trujillo for many years and have no doubt he will faithfully continue to represent the United States as Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere. I look forward to his nomination hearing and continuing the important work ahead on behalf of the American people.”

An astute politician, with a clear vision of what is currently needed to curtail the growing Chinese,Iranian, and Russian influence in our Hemisphere. And at the same time deal with the Scourge of Cuba, and Venezuela protected drug cartels. F.A.R.C. , F.L.N. and Hezbollah.
