This past week, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Executive Director Cissy Proctor traveled to Puerto Rico at Gov. Rick Scott’s request and the invitation of Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello to meet with retailers. 
U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney wrote SVA Administrator Linda McMahon on the matter on Friday, urging her to make a declaration for Lee County. U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan followed suit on Monday, focusing on Sarasota, Manatee and Hillsborough counties. 
At an event in Orlando, Bill Herrle, the NFIB’s executive director in Florida, pointed to Patronis’ experience in the private sector as a reason his group was backing him for a full term.
Only time will tell whether his negotiations are successful.
For Florida, offshore development in the federal waters could create more than 56,000 jobs by 2035 and could result in more than $2.6 billion annually in state revenues.
Hendry County has the highest unemployment rate in Florida but the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) hopes to ensure public schools there can offer skills for the workplace. 
Republican U.S. Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Francis Rooney, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Director Cissy Proctor and Clewiston Mayor Mali Gardner joined U.S. Army Corps of Engineers leaders in the tour. 
The OFR encourages Floridians to be sure they are fully informed before making a financial decision, including a vehicle purchase.
According to Scott’s office, the “bridge loan program, managed by DEO, provides short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses experiencing physical or economic loss.”
This marks the first time in a decade that the airport is getting a major renovation.
