The two grant recipients will be using the funding to implement enhanced nutrient removal technologies, water quality monitoring and data sharing and work to improve the relationship between environmental conditions and nutrient dynamics in Lake Okeechobee. These efforts will result in a better scientific understanding and management of nutrient conditions in Lake Okeechobee.

Last week, U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., brought out the “Solid Start Reporting Act” which will create “ oversight baselines for a newly created program to support veteran mental health during the first year after departing military service.” U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., a veteran who lost both legs during his Army service in Afghanistan, is cosponsoring the bill.

In July 2019, Rubio teamed up with U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., on the proposal to create the commission which would be under the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights’ Office and “would recommend policies to improve current government programs.”  The new commission will have 19 members which “will include congressional lawmakers, executive branch appointees, issue experts, activists, and other stakeholders who will examine social disparities affecting black men and boys in America.” The new commission will offer recommendations to Congress and the federal government. 
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., filed a criminal referral against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for making materially false statements to Congress while under oath during two joint hearings in Congress on April 10th, 2018 and April 11th, 2018.
The bill passed as 224 Democrats voted for it while 189 votes were cast against it as 7 Democrats joined 182 Republicans in opposing it while 17 members did not vote. Party lines held in the Florida delegation though three Republicans from the Sunshine State--U.S. Reps. Neal Dunn, Francis Rooney and Ted Yoho--did not vote. Rooney, who came down with coronavirus and is in his last months in Congress, has missed several votes this year.

The South Florida congresswoman introduced the “Ensuring Protection in Childcare (EPIC) Act” which, her office noted, “provides childcare facilities with federal grants to purchase PPE and other supplies to ensure the safety and health of children and childcare workers.
