Each year, more than 600 Americans die from hyperthermia, one of the nation’s deadliest weather-related health outcomes. Agriculture workers die from heat-related illnesses at a rate 20 times greater than the general U.S. workforce. When the body cannot properly cool itself, victims can become susceptible to dangerous, life-threatening heat-related ailments including heat cramps and rashes, heat exhaustion, and heat strokes.
"GNC lists among its retail operations numerous locations in and in the immediate area of U.S. military facilities, including in my home state of Florida. These installations have been the target of a variety of Chinese espionage activities. In the event of a GNC acquisition by HPGC, Chinese authorities and intelligence officials could leverage GNC military sites to gain access to those restricted locations."
Mucarsel-Powell said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was sending an $800,000 grant to the Guidance Care Center in Marathon.
