The poll of 815 likely Florida voters was taken from Sept. 24 through Sept. 27 and had a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent. 

State Rep. Mike Miller, R-Orlando, has run a largely quiet campaign in his bid to unseat U.S. Rep.  Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., in Congressional District 7 but that’s all changing with a new ad that has been up and running for a week. 

With more than 1,400 dead in Indonesia due to the recent earthquake and tsunami, a key congressional leader from Florida said the U.S. is prepared to help in that country’s recovery. 

On Monday, continuing his challenge to U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., Republican Gov. Rick Scott unveiled the endorsements of almost 50 Puerto Rican officials including U.S. Rep. Jenniffer González-Colón, R-PR, former Gov. Luis Fortuño and Lt. Gov. Luis Rivera Marin.

St. Pete Polls took a survey for Florida Politics which shows Scott with a narrow lead. 

Webster included a proposal he introduced to ensure the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Academy of Medicine “conduct a comprehensive study into the future natural disaster threats impacting emergency preparedness procedures for hospitals, long term care facilities, and other health care facilities.”

Modeling her proposal off of Ros-Lehtinen’s and U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter’s, R-Col., “Deferment for Active Cancer Treatment Act,” U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., was able to include a provision allowing the deferments as part of the minibus.

But not all is doom and gloom for the GOP with most experts saying the Senate race remains very close while the gubernatorial contest can narrow since many statewide elections in Florida are competitive. 

Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA and the Auto Club Group, said on Monday that the increase in prices are the result of concerns about Iranian oil production. 

With backing on both sides of the aisle, freshman U.S. Rep. Al Lawson, D-Fla., was able to get his proposal giving small businesses more chances to get federal contracts passed the U.S. House. 

Gov. Rick Scott turned to two familiar faces in Tallahassee when he named the new members of the state Commission on Ethics.
