Illegal Immigrants Entering U.S. at 22-Year High

Share this story:

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency is reporting encounters with immigrants entering the U.S. illegally last month was the highest number in 22 years, breaking the record of 220,063 in March 2020.

CBP noted it encountered 221,303 migrants along the southwest border in March. Before this, federal officials said the most recent peak was in July. CBP predicted higher numbers in the months to come.

The Biden administration is focused on eliminating Title 42, which the Trump administration launched at the start of the COVID pandemic. Title 42 halted migrants from coming into the U.S. because of health concerns.

The Biden administration insists Title 42 is no longer needed. That policy led to more than 109,500 migrants being deported.

The CPB has stressed that when Title 42 is no longer in place, a record-high avalanche of illegal immigrants will hit the U.S.

Texas along with other states are suing the Biden administration to keep Title 42 in place. The suit challenging the Biden administration argues “an imminent, man-made, self-inflicted calamity: the abrupt elimination of the only safety valve preventing this Administration’s disastrous border policies from devolving into unmitigated chaos and catastrophe.”

Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Tex., said smugglers, drug cartels and other illegals will spread the word of regulations being eliminated which will be an open invitation to enter the U.S.

“Leaders in Congress have no idea about the chaos they have caused by the open-border policies and they refuse to come down and see firsthand and talk to the people who are really there just dropping bombs of illegal immigrants from countries across the entire globe, leaving those local communities to have to grapple with it,” said Abbott.

Abbott has sent two charter buses of illegals to Washington D.C. Some of the immigrants who got off the bus were asked by reporters where they will go next and answered Miami.

This prompted Gov. Ron DeSantis to say that he will send illegal immigrants who are “dumped” into the Sunshine State to sanctuary states like Biden’s home state of Delaware.
