Jason Pizzo Announces New COVID-19 Testing Site in Miami

As confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Florida, state Sen. Jason Pizzo, D-Miami, announced on Monday a new community testing location, in partnership with CDR Maguire: Disaster Health and Medical and the Hampton Art Lovers.

The site will offer free walk-up testing to residents 18 and older.  No appointments are needed to be tested.  Masks must be worn at the sites and social distancing guidelines will be observed.  Tests are limited to 500 and will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

“COVID-19 is increasing at an alarming rate in our community and testing early and often is paramount to helping reduce the spread of this disease,” Pizzo said. “It is my hope that partnering with organizations in our community on events like this will help Miami get the support it deserves in fighting this pandemic and its economic repercussions.”

To date, more than 900,000 cases have been diagnosed and more than 18,000 Floridians have died from COVID-19. Miami-Dade County, alone, has contributed more than 200,000 cases and over 3,700 of those deaths.

Pizzo was elected to the Senate in 2018 and represents parts of Miami-Dade County.
