Jimmy Patronis: Florida is Not Going to Comply With Revised IRS Proposal

Share this Story via Text Message, Facebook, X, Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo Mail
This week, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis weighed in on reports that U.S. Senate Democrats are proposing to change the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) reporting threshold proposal from $600 to $10,000.
“If the Biden administration thinks moving the reporting threshold by a few thousand dollars changes anything – then he really is disconnected from normal people. He supposedly is trying to shake down billionaires and fight fraud, but he wants to go after middle-class bank accounts and small businesses? He’s lying. The entire administration is lying. And they know they’re lying,” Patronis said.
“They’re trying to spend trillions, upon trillions of dollars, and they need hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to look at the cameras and say with a straight face – it will cost taxpayers nothing – which is a lie. This proposal is the biggest shakedown of the middle class that’s ever been publicly aired as a serious policy idea. To think ole-Joe from Scranton thought going to war with the middle class was a good idea is beyond me and is really telling of what the elite on Capitol Hill think they can get away with. It’s the kind of idea that would come out of Cuba and Venezuela – not the United States,” Patronis added.
“Let me be very clear: Florida’s not going to comply with this absurd government overreach. If our elected leaders in Washington fail us – and this becomes law – Florida is not going to comply and we’re going to court. Until then we’ll keep fighting, and fighting, until this Orwell-like packet of garbage is sent back to the bottom drawer of some bureaucrat’s basement at the U.S. Treasury – where it belongs,” he said in conclusion.
Earlier this month, Patronis issued an op-ed at Florida Politics criticizing the Biden administration’s proposal.

I’m very happy to read the arguments of Mr. Patronis. Florida is a free land, because we’re a red state. Thanks.

People will pull all their cash out of banks – crashing the banking industry and leaving the government with even more power…. all part of the communist socialist democratic plan.

Many Florida banks are already hiring BSA Analyst positions (full time). The proposed change affects the Banking Secrecy Act. It will allow for a bank employee to “red flag” any transaction (of 600.00 or more) if he or she “deems” the transaction to be of a suspicious nature. This unlucky, account holder will then be profiled and the details of this bank transaction will be recorded on the proper federal forms to be sent out immediately to several law enforcement agencies including the IRS and the FBI. Law enforcement will have a huge job to investigate the account holder and any associates involved with the transaction. By the way the Bank employee has built-in immunity from law suits that may be filed in this new legislation. No warrants are necessary to look into your bank accounts under this Act. This is not good.

Because they would all be exposed for the pay to play, nepotism and general ill doing that they are all guilty of. Thats why Republicans never stand their ground. They are all complicit in one form or another and dont want to be exposed. Baby out with the bath water is our only option to rid corruption. The few honorable people will have to be sacrificed to cleanse the system or do something extraordinary to be exempted. My humble opinion. A sad thing for those fighting the good fight

Why hasn’t congressmen and senators been scanned by the IRS and prosecuted for their corrupt transactions and tax fraud dealings? If sleepy Joe really wants to go after tax corruption he should be looking in his own backyard !!!
