Latinos in Florida have a very good reason to support Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election: unlike his political opponents, the president understands the destructive force of socialism that has plagued so much of the world and will make sure that America never succumbs to the same fate.
Since his first day in office, Donald Trump has stood on the side of freedom and democracy, both here in the United States and abroad — especially in Latin America. To combat the creeping forces of socialism, he has crafted a foreign policy that aggressively confronts authoritarian regimes in Latin America that suppress their own people and violate human rights.
President Trump was the first world leader to recognize Juan Guaidó as the legitimate interim president of Venezuela in January, pledging to use “full weight of United States economic and diplomatic power to press for the restoration of Venezuelan democracy.” Since then, more than 50 countries have followed his lead.
Earlier this month, the president lauded the resignation of Bolivia’s would-be dictator Evo Morales praising the Bolivian people for ousting the former president’s illegitimate attempt to hold on to power.
“These events send a strong signal to the illegitimate regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua that democracy and the will of the people will always prevail,” Trump declared, adding that “we are now one step closer to a completely democratic, prosperous, and free Western Hemisphere.”
For President Trump, “America First” does not mean America alone. The Trump administration is committed to defending freedom and nurturing democracy in the Western Hemisphere, and to leading the fight against socialism at home and abroad.
For all his efforts to support global freedom, the president is even more determined to defeat the socialist radicals who have taken over the Democratic Party and now have their sights set on the White House. He knows perfectly well that America can’t be an effective advocate for freedom in other countries if we surrender our own.
Shockingly, some of the most prominent figures in the Democratic Party are openly promoting so-called “democratic socialism,” which is just a re-branding of the same destructive ideology that has impoverished millions of people all over the globe.
Politicians such as Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are currently running for president on that very platform, advocating for the biggest — and most expensive — expansion of the federal government in U.S. history.
Luckily for America, President Trump has vowed to stop their radical plans.
“Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country,” the president stated during one of the most historic moments of this year’s State of the Union address. “America was founded on liberty and independence — not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free.”
“Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country,” he declared, uttering a line that will echo through history.
Of course, President Trump needs allies for this momentous undertaking — which is why I’m inviting you to our upcoming Latinos for Trump event at the Miami Marriott in Dadeland this Monday with myself, Senior Advisor Mercedes Schlapp and others who support this president. Join us to learn how you can share the president’s America First message in your communities and contribute to this important effort.
Freedom made America great — not socialism. Only by preserving that freedom can we keep America great for future generations.
