Rick Scott Backed by Senate Conservatives Fund for Second Term

Share this story:

Last week, as he gears up to run for a second term in the U.S. Senate, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., announced he had the support of the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF)

Founded by former U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC, the SCF defines itself as “a national grassroots organization that seeks to bring bold conservative leadership to Washington by supporting candidates who will fight for the timeless conservative principles of limited government, strong national defense, and traditional family values” that “helps candidates by bundling contributions for them from thousands of freedom-loving Americans across the country, and our super PAC, Senate Conservatives Action (SCA), helps them by running hard-hitting ads to promote their conservative campaigns.”

Scott weighed in on the endorsement.

“Thank you to the Senate Conservatives Fund for their endorsement. Politicians in Washington have lost sight of what it means to represent American families and I am fighting to protect our conservative values and the freedoms that make our country a land of prosperity and opportunity,” said Scott. “The Left is destroying the country we love, and I won’t stop fighting until we reverse course and get our country heading back in the right direction. I am grateful for the support of the Senate Conservatives Fund and will continue to fight for policies that make Florida and our country stronger.”

Scott was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2018 when he beat then U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.

So far no major Democratic candidates have launched campaigns against Scott. Possible candidates include NBA legends Grant Hill and Dwayne Wade, Brevard County School Board Member Jennifer Jenkins, state Sen. Shevrin Jones, former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and former U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy.
