While U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., was one of a handful of Republican senators to support decertifying Pennsylvania’s electoral college votes, at the end of last week, he called on outgoing President Donald Trump to attend incoming President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the inauguration on January 20th,” Trump posted on Twitter last week before his account was removed after last week’s pro-Trump mob attack on the Capitol which resulted in five deaths, including that of a police officer.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter noted.

On Friday, Scott called for Trump to attend the inauguration.

“I am urging the president to reconsider his decision to skip the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. He is, of course, not constitutionally required to attend and I can imagine losing an election is very hard, but I believe he should attend. I plan to attend and believe it is an important tradition that demonstrates the peaceful transfer of power to our people and to the world,” Scott said.

Why would he attend the inauguration of a corrupt administration?

The peaceful transfer of power?? Too late for that after Trump called for his mob to attack our capitol. You should be ashamed for your support of this horrible insurrection of our free and fair election. Your vote against the results of the election have damaged our country!

I am 79 and can’t compete in the vaccine race to sign-up or race to the airport IF I get a time spot. What is the use anyway when all “they” have to do is smile big and say, “Move over Florida citizen, we’re coming through.”
Your efforts and those of your very capable staff on our behalf in Florida and in our country are so appreciated, Senator Scott!

You need to get your facts straight. Have you even listened to his speech or have you just bern told what he said.

President Trump should not attend. If something happens they will blame him. I don’t feel anyone from Florida should attend and focus on what we need to protect Florida from the Green new deal and the Paris climate accord.

You have not read and looked at the timeline. While President Trump talked they were invading the Capital. People who listened to the speech were no where near the Capital. The Capital is being used the same as Nazis use the fire at the German parliament Reichstag within 24 hours had suspended their rights to Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Expression and Freedom of public assembly. Just like they are doing to us now.

It doesn’t matter what “you belive”. There will be a trial. The truth will be told. The Jury (Senate) will decide. The result is not yet known but be patient! Remember….no body cares what you ( or me ) believes. The truth will set you free!
