Ron DeSantis Announces $3.8 Million for Projects Through Florida Job Growth Grand Fund

At the end of last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced more than $3.8 million for projects across the Sunshine State through the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund.

DeSantis said that Port St. Lucie will get $3.5 million to help with infrastructure at Tradition Commerce Park.

“These funds will create 1,800 jobs and can indirectly create another 4,000 jobs with employment opportunities in information technology, logistics and distribution, and manufacturing,” the governor’s office noted.

“We want people to be free to choose what they do for a living, where they live and how they raise their families, and by growing our job opportunities in Florida, we are making sure Floridians have a wide range of options to choose from,” said DeSantis on Friday. “Today’s announcement is another example of our commitment to keeping our economy strong.”

“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, the Department remains committed to taking steps to diversify, enhance and grow Florida’s economy,” said Dane Eagle, the secretary of the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). “Investing in improvements, like this one at the Tradition Commerce Park, is a smart choice and will provide opportunities for Floridians.”

“Through the further development of Tradition Commerce Park, the Port St. Lucie community will strengthen its position as an economic driver for the region and the state,” said Florida Commerce Sec. Jamal Sowell, the president and CEO of Enterprise Florida. “We appreciate Governor DeSantis’ leadership and commitment to providing Florida’s communities with opportunities for economic growth.”

Also on Friday, DeSantis announced that Chipola College will get $354,000 from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund to expand its cybersecurity training.

“Considering the threats we see from nations like China, Russia and Iran, we believe that cybersecurity will continue to be a growing part of our workforce, and I’m proud to announce these funds to equip more Floridians with the skills they need to be a part of this field,” said DeSantis. “My administration remains committed to providing Floridians with access to workforce training that they can use to move our state forward while providing for their families.”
