On Thursday afternoon, incoming Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., announced what the theme of his inauguration in January will be.
The 2019 inaugural theme will be a “Bold Vision for a Brighter Future.”
DeSantis weighed in on the theme on Thursday.
“This election was about the future of our state, how we can build on our success and address the challenges that lie ahead,” DeSantis said. “As I prepare to take office as the 46th Governor of Florida, we are laying the groundwork to implement our vision to protect and strengthen our state and hit the ground running on day one. I look forward to Floridians coming together during the inaugural events where I will share a Bold Vision for a Brighter Future.”
Brian Ballard, the chairman of DeSantis’ Inaugural Committee, offered his take on the theme.
“Governor-elect DeSantis’ Bold Vision for a Brighter Future inaugural theme will be incorporated across events open to all Floridians,” Ballard said before turning to DeSantis’ experiences. “As the father of two young children and as an Iraq War veteran who has personally sacrificed abroad to protect our freedom at home, Governor-elect DeSantis is committed to move our state forward toward continued success. The Inaugural Committee looks forward to bringing our state together and sharing Governor-elect DeSantis’ vision for the future.”
DeSantis takes over from term limited Gov. Rick Scott, R-Fla., on January 8. Scott was elected to the U.S. Senate earlier this month, ousting U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., who was running for a fourth term.
