State Sen. Linda Stewart, D- Orlando, and state Rep. Joy Goff-Marcil, D- Maitland, have filed legislation to put into law several major recommendations of the Blue-Green Algae Task Force.
With the Legislature getting ready for its regular session at the start of the new year, this week, Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed his plan to improve water quality in the Sunshine State.
Joined by First Lady Casey DeSantis and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Noah Valenstein, DeSantis announced the new appointments and pointed to recent reports of algae blooms in North Florida.
"The protection of water resources is one of the most pressing issues facing our state. That’s why today I'm taking immediate action to combat the threats which have devastated our local economies and threatened the health of our communities."
