Backers of the idea say lowering the age would improve the healthcare system, lower prices for consumers and help Americans delaying healthcare for financial reasons until they get coverage through Medicare. But they claim their main reason to explore lowering the age was because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rubio and Scott joined five other senators, including U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas., Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in opposing the nomination as 92 senators voted to confirm Vilsack.
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., joined senators from both sides of the aisle last week to urge the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to conduct an outreach campaign to educate clinicians, Medicare beneficiaries with cognitive impairment, and their families on the assessment and care planning services currently available to them.
This week, Rubio announced his support for U.S. Sen. Gary Peters’, D-Mich., “National Criminal Justice Commission Act" which would “task a National Criminal Justice Commission to assess the nation’s criminal justice system and propose reforms to address the most pressing issues facing it.”
“The last thing that Michigan families who were exposed to PFAS-contaminated water and soil need is finger pointing from our federal agencies,” Stabenow said.
