Frankel’s proposal has the support of her fellow leaders of the DWC including U.S. Reps. Veronica Escobar, D-Tex., Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich., and Jackie Speier, D-Calif. U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., is also backing the bill. Over in the upper chamber, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., is championing the companion bill.

“As a mother of a proud U.S. Marine war veteran, taking care of our brave men and women in and out of uniform is personal for me, and I am honored to have been selected for this new committee assignment,” said Frankel. “My first focus will be to make sure that all veterans who qualify based on current CDC guidance are able to get the COVID-19 vaccine through the VA health care system.”

Frankel, U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich., and U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., were all re-elected as co-chairs of the DWC. U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Tex., and U.S. Rep. Deb Halland, D-NM, were re-elected to serve as vice chairwomen. 

Last week, U.S. Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill., introduced the “Stop Sexual Harassment in K-12 Act” with Frankel and U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, D-Mich., the chairs of the Democratic Women's Caucus, as cosponsors.

“President Trump’s State of the Union address will be a much-needed reminder that outside the Washington, D.C. bubble there are millions of Americans who do not spend each day refreshing their Twitter accounts to see the latest ‘hot take,’” Rubio said.

Florida Democrat U.S. Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Lois Frankel, Ted Deutch and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell joined U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Mary., in writing Barr on the matter. 

A congresswoman from the Sunshine State is leading the Democratic Women’s Caucus in calling for the U.S. House Oversight and Reform Committee and the U.S. House Judiciary Committee to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide and a plea deal he made back in 2008.

The bill contains $189.9 billion in base discretionary funding, an $11.8 billion increase from last year and $48 billion more than what President Donald Trump proposed.

On Tuesday, Republican Christian Acsota, a nuclear engineer who teaches at Palm Beach State College, launched his bid, throwing a few jabs at Frankel.
