Rick Scott Renews Push to Crack Down on Chinese Drones

Scott cheered the Commerce Department for adding more than 75 companies, including Chinese-drone company DJI, on the Entity List for “actions deemed contrary to the national security or foreign policy interest of the United States” including supporting the Chinese regime and corporate espionage.

Florida Congressmen Warn Federal Government About Chinese Drones

U.S. Reps. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and Greg Steube, R-Fla., paired up with U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, to write U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Justice calling for information on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) from Da Jiang Innovations (DJI). Steube’s office noted that DJI is a “Chinese company that accounts for nearly 80 percent of drone sales in the United States.”

DJI Responds to Florida Senators Over Chinese Drone Claims

The senators pointed to DOT and FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP) partnership with Da Jiang Innovations (DJI) Inc. The senators called DJI “a Chinese drone company, and use DJI drones for aircraft inspections, delivery of aircraft parts, airport perimeter security, and various airport safety inspections.”
