Bilirakis also focused on the “STANDUP Act” which “encourages schools to expand evidence-based suicide prevention training in schools.” The Florida Republican also showcased the “Mental Health Parity Enforcement Act” which “would hold insurance companies accountable if they fail to adhere to existing law which requires parity in coverage for mental and physical health conditions.”

Florida’s two Republicans in the U.S. Senate--Marco Rubio and Rick Scott--are backing a resolution urging the International Olympic Committee (IOC) move the 2022 Winter Olympics out of China unless the communist regime changes its human rights policy.

Florida Republican U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott joined Republican U.S. Sens. Johnny Isakson and David Perdue of Georgia and Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby and Democrat U.S. Sen. Doug Jones of Alabama in passing the resolution.

Rubio joined a host of senators including U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., U.S. Sen. Doug Jones, D-Ala., and U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-RI, in backing the legislation and they pointed to Iran’s support of the Beirut barracks bombing in 1983.

William Barr, who served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush more than a quarter of a century ago, has his old job back as the U.S. Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s nomination on a 54-45 vote.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is leading senators from both sides of the aisle to push for Congress to move quickly in passing disaster supplemental funding legislation to help Americans recover from recent disasters, including Hurricane Michael which hit the Panhandle in October.
