AAA released a report this week which expects 50.6 million Americans--down from 56 million last year--will travel this Thanksgiving, including around 2.76 million residents of the Sunshine State, down from 2.91 million in 2019. 

Members of the task force will work together to develop guidelines on how to safely allow family members to visit their loved ones in Florida’s long-term care facilities where visitation has been prohibited since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A new report from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) shows that Florida is well below the national average in the per-capita number of nursing home cases and deaths among both nursing homes residents and staff. Even though it is the nation's third most populous state with one of the highest shares of at-risk older residents, Florida does not fall within the 10 highest states for total cases among nursing home residents.

On Wednesday, the Florida Chamber of Commerce activated its Hurricane Center which it defined as “a one-stop storm preparation center for families, businesses and visitors.”
