Frankel, who sits on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, announced on Friday the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will send Palm Tran $50,701,790. The money comes from the “CARES Act,” the $2.3 trillion coronavirus stimulus package which Congress and the White House agreed on at the end of March.
Mucarsel-Powell noted that the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) and Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will be getting $325,989,054. The funds will be coming from the $2.3 trillion CARES Act that Congress and the White House agreed to at the end of March.
On Friday, Lawson announced funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Transit Administration will be headed to the First Coast to “help JTA with administrative leave costs due to reductions in service and the state-mandated quarantine.”
“Tampa and Hillsborough County are on the frontlines of combating the coronavirus,” said Castor on Thursday. “It is vital that Congress speed significant resources directly to Tampa and Hillsborough County to take care of our neighbors."
Finishing up his first term in Congress, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., announced the funds would be headed to the PSTA on Wednesday.
The funds are coming from FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program to back “projects to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses and related equipment, as well as projects to purchase, rehabilitate, and construct bus-related facilities.”
