Brown will start her new duties on Monday. She replaces former Sec. Halsey Beshears who resigned from that post due to health reasons last month.

Beshears announced his resignation on Friday. He will leave his post on January 29.

Under the new DBPR Emergency Order, bars and other alcoholic beverage vendors may resume sales of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises on Monday, provided that their operations comply with the parameters of Phase 2 of the “Safe, Smart, Step-by-Step Plan for Florida’s Recovery.”

For the new, online testing options, candidates will need a functioning computer with a webcam, microphone and strong internet connection. During the online examination, candidates will be monitored by a live proctor through microphone and webcam.

The bill eliminates barriers of entry to certain professions licensed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DPBR) by adding endorsement and reciprocity provisions, removing supplemental business licenses and corresponding license fees, reducing licensure education requirements, and eliminating other licensure and registration requirements.

When Gov. Ron DeSantis picked then state Rep. Halsey Beshears to serve as secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, a seat representing parts of the Big Bend and North Florida was left vacant.

Not surprisingly, DeSantis garnered the applause of officials he appointed to his administration. Just as predictably, DeSantis drew jeers and fire from the left. 

On Monday, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Executive Director Ken Lawson called for general contractors to assist the “Rebuild Florida” program which is a “long-term recovery effort to repair and rebuild thousands of homes of Florida families that were significantly damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Irma.”
