The schools are getting the funds from the $900 billion “Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act” which Congress passed last month and which then President Donald Trump signed into law.
U.S. Rep. Al Lawson, D-Fla., announced this week that the schools will receive federal funds through the “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act." The entire package sends $31 billion to schools across the country with almost $14 billion of that going to higher education institutions.
On Wednesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s (DEO) Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program has awarded more than $14 million to help organizations aid the state in recovering from Hurricane Irma which struck in September 2017.
“I’m pleased to launch the Northeast Florida FinTech Initiative in conjunction with Florida State College at Jacksonville and St. John’s River State College,” said DeSantis. “This innovative collaboration to provide new FinTech-related training and certifications will help equip Floridians with skills in demand by Northeast Florida’s growing FinTech industry.”
