This week, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called on the Trump administration to impose sanctions on senior commanders of Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), which has reportedly killed more than 400 people extrajudicially since 2015.

In a letter to U.S. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin, the senators urge for the use of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act, the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, and/or the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act to hold those involved in Navalny’s poisoning accountable, and to deter future attacks.

Last week, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., paired up with U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and sent a letter to U.S. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo urging the State Department to designate Vietnam a Country of Particular Concern for its religious freedom violations and consider enacting Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act sanctions to reverse its declining human rights situation.

On Friday, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who sits on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, weighed in on continued threats from the Chinese government against protesters in Hong Kong.

Rubio backed the White House for imposing sanctions on 17 Saudis under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act this week. Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi regime, was killed gruesomely when he went into the Saudi embassy in Istanbul last month.
