Despite the damage done to Tyndall Air Force Base by Hurricane Michael in October, a Florida congressman is urging the Air Force to resume F-22 training there on a short term basis.
On Monday, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., met with military leaders at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City and vowed to continue his fight to help the area which is still recovering from Hurricane Michael which hit the region in November.
“Our military families deserve safe living conditions on base and we must ensure their rights are protected. I am eager to see the results of this important study and look forward to acting upon the GAO’s recommendations,” said Bilirakis.
Even as dozens of families are reporting mold and other issues in private housing at MacDill Air Force Base, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Scott, who sits on the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, doubled down on his pursuit of answers this week.
"Bringing this new mission to Tyndall ensures that the U.S Air Force is ready to dominate in any conflict."
U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., spoke with U.S. Air Force Sec. Heather Wilson last week and offered an update on Friday, noting that the Air Force will resume nine of the 14 missions at Tyndall over the course of the next three months.
On Monday, Rubio wrote U.S. Air Force Sec. Heather Wilson on the matter, urging her to repair Raptors damaged in the storm.
