Florida TaxWatch Poll Shows Floridians Want COVID-19 Liability Protection for Businesses, Healthcare Providers
Mason Dixon took a poll for Florida TaxWatch which indicates Floridians strongly support COVID-19 business and healthcare liability protections by 72 percent and 74 percent, respectively.
At the end of last week, Florida TaxWatch announced “five taxpayer priorities” for the 2021 Legislative Session, which will begin on March 2 and adjourn on April 30.
Florida Legislature Leadership Backs Proposal to Help Offer Liability Protection for Businesses During Pandemic
In the Florida House, state Rep. Lawrence McClure, R-Dover, filed a bill on Wednesday which will offer “general liability protection for Florida businesses, schools, nonprofits and religious institutions making a good-faith effort to follow established federal, state and local guidelines” and its “liability protections apply retroactively to any newly filed lawsuit.”

Boyd, who served four terms in the Florida House, launched his bid on Thursday as he looks to keep Galvano’s seat, which includes all of Manatee County and part of Hillsborough County, for the GOP.
The bill amends “the mitigation options for wetlands impacted by development projects to now allow local governments to authorize mitigation of conservation lands they have purchased and own, if state and federal mitigation credits are not available and financial assurances are provided by the developer for the perpetual maintenance of the land.”
