The funds come from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s (DEO) Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF).
Eligible uses of funds include: public infrastructure for industrial or commercial sites; access and availability of broadband Internet service; improvements to inadequate infrastructure that has resulted in regulatory action; upgrades to or development of public tourism infrastructure; and planning and preparation for infrastructure.
Administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF) provides funding to local governments for infrastructure projects in rural communities to encourage job creation and business investment and to strengthen and diversify rural economies.
“Infrastructure development and maintenance are critical for rural communities to become more resilient,” said DeSantis. “We will continue to help these communities as they prepare for the future by utilizing every resource we have.”
