“The legislation would reauthorize the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Pre-Disaster Mitigation Pilot Program to give small businesses the opportunity to take out low-interest loans for the purpose of proactively implementing mitigation measures to protect their property from future disaster related damage,” Rubio’s office noted.

Back in 2010, the Small Business Administration (SBA) created the State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) pilot grant initiative which helped lead to more exports. Finkenauer’s bill reauthorizes STEP through 2024 and offers it $30 million in funds.
Florida Congressman Backs Expanding the Community Advantage Loan Program for Small Businesses
U.S. Rep. Judy Chu introduced the bill at the end of last week. Her legislation would take the Community Advantage Loan Program, which was set up as a pilot program back in 2011 “to provide low-interest loans to small businesses that have been historically underserved by loan providers, such as veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses” and reauthorize it through 2025.
Ross Spano Gets SBA Export Program Renewal to the House Floor
At the start of the week, with Spano as the cosponsor, U.S. Rep. Abby Finkenauer, D-Iowa, brought out the “STEP Improvement Act” which “aims to increase the number of small businesses that export and raise the value of existing small business exporters—thus helping increase sales volume for small businesses, which helps create businesses grow and create more jobs.”
