Fortune offered some of the details on what the SEC’s plans are.
Rubio, the chairman of the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin, and Jovita Carranza, the administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), urging the agencies to provide the committee with information related to the loan review and forgiveness procedures that will be used to audit Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans.
This week, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called on the Trump administration to impose sanctions on senior commanders of Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), which has reportedly killed more than 400 people extrajudicially since 2015.
In a letter to U.S. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo and U.S. Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin, the senators urge for the use of the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act, the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, and/or the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act to hold those involved in Navalny’s poisoning accountable, and to deter future attacks.
In August, Rubio announced in an op-ed that he would “introduce legislation to create a framework of standards that must be met before a high-risk, foreign-based app is allowed to operate on American telecommunications networks and devices.”

While Democrats prescribed $1 trillion of aid in the Phase 4 package they approved in May, Republicans initially insisted the only aid they would consider is to allow local governments discretion to use an existing $150 billion coronavirus relief fund to cover operating expenses, which initially was prohibited. GOP negotiators reportedly have since upped the offer to $200 billion of new aid.

On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., wrote to U.S. Treasury Sec. Steven Mnuchin requesting the agency’s plan to publicly release information on how the more than $1 trillion in state and local government funding already allocated for coronavirus response is being spent.
Signers included Florida Republican U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott and Florida Republican U.S. Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart, Brian Mast, Ross Spano, Michael Waltz and Ted Yoho. On the other side of the aisle, Democrats who signed the letter included U.S. Sens. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and Ed Markey of Massachusetts and U.S. Reps. Eliot Engel of New York and Brad Sherman of California.
