Scott’s resolution “condemning military aggression and use of force by the Chinese Coast Guard against peaceful foreign vessels that purportedly violate the unlawful maritime sovereignty of China” was backed by U.S. Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, Thom Tillis, R-NC, and Roger Wicker, R-Miss.
Rubio along with fellow Republican senators “demand a Tiger Team composed of public health experts to identify and address the source of this failure, align the guidance with science, and get our students back to school.” The Tiger Teams would be composed of experts both inside and outside of the CDC to address the agency’s failure and to provide information, based on consistent science, to safely reopen schools.
On February 1, the Burmese armed forces, also known as Tatmadaw, overturned the results of Burma’s November 2020 elections. They seized power in a military coup and detained the country’s democratically elected leaders, including State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint. Darren Soto Helps Get the ‘Strengthening America’s Strategic National Stockpile Act’ Through the House
Soto was an original cosponsor of U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s, D-Mich., “Strengthening America’s Strategic National Stockpile Act” to help “begin reducing America’s dependence on foreign sources of critical medical supplies the country needs to fight COVID-19, boost domestic manufacturing to make those supplies here in America, and make much-needed improvements and updates to America’s Strategic National Stockpile (SNS).”
The executive order provides the U.S. Secretary of State and the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury the authority to impose sanctions on additional sectors of the Iranian economy at any time.
According to Rutherford’s office, the bill “would create federal penalties for individuals who deliberately target local, state, or federal law enforcement officers with violence.” The bill cleared the U.S. House in 2018 but failed to pass the U.S. Senate. Rutherford brought it back last year.
