The U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee received more than 2,000 Member Designated Project Requests, and all four of Crist’s requested projects were approved for full funding, totaling nearly $25 million for Pinellas.
“The Passenger Rail Improvement, Modernization and Expansion (PRIME) grant program is a new $19 billion program ‘devoted entirely to passenger rail improvements and expansion, performance optimization, and intercity passenger rail transportation expansion,’” Demings’ office noted. “Access to the federal PRIME grant program—along with U.S. Department of Transportation transparency and oversight of these funds—is important to the construction of high-speed passenger rail connecting major population and economic centers throughout Florida.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. John Rose, R-Tenn., brought out the “Haulers of Agriculture and Livestock Safety (HAULS) Act” with Soto as a co-sponsor.
Craig introduced the bill, which U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., are backing in the upper chamber, earlier this month.
Crist paired with U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-Miss., on a bill to just that this week and offered the rationale behind the proposal.

Webster and U.S. Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., are co-sponsoring the proposal which would “provide the General Services Administration (GSA) with flexibility to pilot the use of public-private partnerships.”
Dan Webster Leads GOP on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Subcommittee
U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo., the lead Republicans on the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, named his subcommittee chairs, including Webster, on Monday.
At the start of last year, Hastings brought out the “Farm-to-Market Road Repair Act” which, according to his office, would “expand eligibility for the Surface Transportation Block Grant program to include rural roads that serve to transport agriculture products from farms or ranches to the marketplace.”
The Florida Keys Electric Cooperative will be getting the bulk of the funds--$11,105,629.07--coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Wilson hosted a conference call with several representatives from the agency, Miami International Airport, and local government officials on the matter last week. The FAA extended the comment period through July 24.
