A Republican congressman from Florida has teamed up with a Democrat from California to ask the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) about their long-term care plans for veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI), including focusing on assisted living programs.
Mast and Rice noted that almost 350,000 women in the Armed Force have deployed since 9/11 and they have reeled in more than 40 cosponsors on Capitol Hill and several veterans groups behind their proposal.
With groundbreaking for the new VA facility scheduled for October, the three Florida Republicans proposed naming it “Leo C. Chase, Jr. Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic.’’
This week, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., weighed in on foreign policy at the “Uniting for a Better Foreign Policy Luncheon.”
“As our nation’s veterans transition back to civilian life, we must ensure the VA adapts to the 21st century needs of our service men and women as they pursue civilian employment opportunities,” said Rubio.
“It’s clear Representative Ocasio-Cortez has never dealt with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or relied on them for care. If she had, she would know that their system is in dire need of reform" said Steube.
U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., announced last month that he was the main cosponsor of U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta’s, D-Calif., “Kittens in Traumatic Testing Ends Now (KITTEN) Act” which “directs the Secretary of Agriculture to end the use of cats in experiments that cause pain or stress.”
