Another Tax Hike in Orange County? Commission to Hear from Residents

Share this story:

Residents of Orange County will get the chance to vocalize their thoughts regarding a potential sales tax hike. Citing transportation infrastructure costs, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and the Orange County Commission are considering a sales tax hike.

Tax measures aren’t easy to predict in Orange County. Although Orange County’s Democratic Party holds a dominant lead over Republican Party-registered voters in party registration, and the county’s multi-cycle status as a reliably “Blue” county in Presidential and Gubernatorial Elections, a penny tax was rejected during the 2022 Mid-Term.

Public input meetings will be held March 21 by Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero and Demings at the Pavilion at Avalon Park at 13401 Tanja King Blvd. in Orlando from 6-7:30 p.m. On March 25: Commissioner Mayra Uribe and Demings will host a meeting at the UF/IFAS Extension Auditorium at 6021 S. Conway Road in Orlando from 6-7:30 p.m.
