The latest number of illegal immigrants entering the U.S. continues to rise, and the White House shrugs it off.

During an interview on NBC News‘ “Meet the Press”, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas finally admitted there was a border crisis. But when confronted by the host Kristen Welker on whether the Biden Administration is responsible for the border problems, Mayorkas responded, ”It certainly is a crisis. We don’t bear responsibility for a broken system, and we’re dealing a tremendous amount within that broken system.”

Apprehensions of illegals crossing the southwest border so far for fiscal 2024 saw the highest amount ever recorded in U.S. history. The number is 785,422.

Fox News Griff Jenkins reported that over the last year and a half, over 73 thousand illegals caught had a criminal background.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized over $9.5 million in hard drugs at the World Trade Bridge in Texas, and officers also found a total of 1,033.96 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

There isn’t much legislation in place to effectively deter the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States.

The Border Patrol Council that supports Trump for 2024 backed the Senate version of a border bill, but it was killed by other Senate Republicans with the help of former President Donald Trump.

The Wall Street Journal said though the bill was far from perfect, it was the best border security deal in over 40 years.

Democrats in the U.S. House hated the bill because it didn’t allow amnesty to DACA recipients. Senate Democrats were not openly supportive of the legislation. Still, they were ready to get on board because of low approval numbers showing the GOP could win back the Senate in 2024.

With immigration as a top issue in the 2024 election, NBC News is reporting that Biden is considering taking executive action to deter illegal migration at the border.

Mayorkas has served as Secretary of Homeland Security in the Biden administration since 2021 and as Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security for three years in the Obama Administration.
