On Monday, U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney, R-Fla., showcased more than $40 million in federal funds going to hospitals across Southwest Florida.

Rooney noted that the hospitals were getting funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) included in the federal stimulus package that the White House and Congress agreed to at the end of March.

“Much needed funding has been included in the latest congressional relief package to aid the Lee Health System, NCH Healthcare System, and various hospitals throughout Southwest Florida,” Rooney said. “These funds will give our frontline medical workers financial support to continue their tireless work fighting and treating COVID-19. In this time of crisis, it is essential that Southwest Florida’s medical workers have the supplies and provisions they need.”

Lee Memorial Hospital is getting $18,823,565 while NCH Baker Hospital is penciled in to receive $10,175,350. Gulf Coast Medical Center will get $7,843,463 while $5,212,567 is headed to Cape Coral Hospital. Park Royal Hospital will get $432,564 in HHS funds while Select Specialty Hospital Ft. Myers will receive $397,607 and $362,039 is headed to the Willough at Naples.

First elected to Congress in 2016, Rooney is not running for a third term this year.
