This week, Florida’s two Republicans in the U.S. Senate teamed up on a proposal which “which authorizes and directs the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force to develop innovative technologies and approaches to identify, target, and eliminate invasive animal and plant species that threaten Everglades restoration.”

“One of my administration’s top environmental priorities has been expediting Everglades restoration,” DeSantis said on Wednesday. “Today we take another step in the right direction by reaching this agreement between DEP and Kanter Real Estate that will allow for the purchase of 20,000 acres of critical wetlands.

"Well, in this season of opportunity, we can say there is more out there to achieve for our state – and there is no reason why we can’t seize this moment and deliver for the people of Florida."

“The authorization required the Army Corps to complete a report on the project no later than 90 days after the date of enactment.  Federal design and construction of the project cannot begin until the report is completed.  A year later, that report has still not been completed, which is causing delays to the project,” Rubio’s office noted.
