Sanderson in Baker County will see more jobs in cannabis production.

Last week, Acreage Holdings, in partnership with the Baker County Chamber of Commerce, held a groundbreaking ceremony at a facility in Sanderson where cannabis will be produced.

The 15.4-acre cannabis center will create 80-100 jobs, said Rhonda Kratz, Acreage Holdings’ general manager in Florida.

The products created facility will yield products to support its soon-to-be-opened dispensaries. Kratz said these efforts reflect Acreage’s commitment to Florida and its economy.

Acreage’s first harvest is expected by March and will employ 15 people. The next phase in April will lead to an additional 15 employees before expanding in the third phase by August when Acreage expects to bring an additional 80 jobs and yielding around 25,000 plants.

The Sanderson Cultivation and Production Facility will be an automated indoor climate-controlled cannabis facility. The facility will include automated indoor, climate control, water-cooled HVAC and state of the art botanical extraction equipment to optimize every phase of cannabis plant growth.

Darryl Register, the executive director of Baker County Chamber of Commerce, told Florida Daily establishing the production facility is a major win for the local community.

Representatives from area businesses, Baker County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the office of state Rep. Chuck Brannon, R-Macclenny, attended the event.
