On Monday, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., sent a letter to U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos requesting additional information on resources available for schools to help students stay safe and continue their education as the nation continues to be impacted by coronavirus.
On Wednesday, U.S. Education Sec. Betsy DeVos announced the $1.25 million Project School Emergency Response to Violence (SERV) grant for Bay District Schools which will go “to provide students with much needed mental health services" including hiring “multiple social workers and one paraprofessional for each school in the Bay District.”
Not surprisingly, DeSantis garnered the applause of officials he appointed to his administration. Just as predictably, DeSantis drew jeers and fire from the left.
