The senators paired up again this week to press U.S. Energy Sec. Rick Perry--briefly a rival to Rubio in the 2016 Republican presidential primaries--on the matter, as the Energy Department grows increasingly open to helping Saudi Arabia’s nuclear ambitions.

At the end of last week, Rubio teamed up with U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, D-NJ, to call on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to “open a review into the Trump Administration’s negotiations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as any negotiation by the executive branch since December 2009, regarding a civil nuclear cooperation agreement.”

The Florida Republican pointed to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report which found “of the $6.2 million set aside for suicide prevention outreach in 2018, [his] department somehow only managed to spend $57,000, or less than 1 percent of the total funding allocated for this purpose... "
