Back in October 2019, Bilirakis announced his support for U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui’s, D-Calif., “Timely Re-Authorization of Necessary Stem-cell Programs Lends Access to Needed Therapies (TRANSPLANT) Act” which would reauthorize the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and the National Cord Blood Inventory. Longtime U.S. Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla., served in Congress for more than four decades until his death in 2013 and led the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.

Back in October 2019, Bilirakis announced his support for U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui’s, D-Calif., “Timely Re-Authorization of Necessary Stem-cell Programs Lends Access to Needed Therapies (TRANSPLANT) Act” which would reauthorize the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and the National Cord Blood Inventory.

“This recognition, which has only been presented twice before, is given to individuals with a distinguished record of supporting our U.S. fighting forces,” the congressman’s office noted.

As part of one of the federal omnibus bills passed last month, the “Patient Access to Cellular Transplant (PACT) Act” which U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wisc., proposed with Bilirakis’ support was signed into law. 

Despite Crist’s big win last year, on paper, the various Republicans have some cause to hope.

Crist’s office trumpeted his new seat on Thursday and stressed the importance of the committee.
