Castor showcased the funds which “will help local institutions cope with the severe financial fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and continue serving their students safely" with “at least half of the funding each institution receives will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other hardship.”
Castor said the funds come from the $2.2 trillion stimulus package that the White House and Congress agreed on at the end of last month and will go to the University of South Florida (USF), University of Tampa and Hillsborough Community College.
