The Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award recognizes agricultural producers who demonstrate leadership in developing and implementing innovative techniques to safeguard the environment and conserve natural resources.
“Ensuring that American farmers have an advantage over foreign competition and are not burdened by counterproductive federal regulations is vital for Florida’s agricultural industry,” Steube said at the end of last week. “My team and I will continue to advocate for Florida’s farmers and ranchers as they navigate these challenges moving forward.”
Last week, U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., paired up with the Florida Farm Bureau to showcase the work of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) North Florida Research and Education Center in Live Oak.
The AFBF awarded Spano with the “Friends of Farm Bureau" due to “his leadership in supporting Florida’s farming and ranching communities.” The Florida Farm Bureau nominated Spano for the award and the AFBF’s Board of Directors approved it.
This week, Florida’s two U.S. senators--Republicans Marco Rubio and Rick Scott--and 25 of the state’s 27 members in the U.S. House urged U.S. Agriculture Sec. Sonny Perdue to provide immediate relief to Florida’s agricultural producers.
