Back in January, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., the first Green Beret to serve in Congress, introduced the “United States-Israel PTSD Collaborative Research Act.”

In their letter to DOJ, the lawmakers noted examples of Al Jazeera’s activities that align closely with the priorities of the Qatari government. Bob Menendez, D-NJ, the top Democrat on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, teamed up on the bill. U.S. Rep. Max Rose, D-NY, is cosponsoring Deutch’s bill which the Florida congressman’s office defined as a bill “to strengthen the U.S. government’s counter-terrorism efforts against transnational white supremacy and identity groups.”

U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., is looking to add eight amendments, most of which are focused on veterans affairs, to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Buchanan pointed to numbers from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s office showing 29 deaths due to opioids so far in 2020, up from 13 for all of 2019. Non-fatal overdoses in the county have also increased from 88 in all of 2019 to 121 in the first six months of 2020.
